Badrutt’s Palace, St. Moritz

Set in glamorous St. Moritz in the Engadine valley, Badrutt’s Palace has been an icon of alpine hospitality for over a century, welcoming famous guests including Alfred Hitchcock, Rita Hayworth and George Clooney. This glamorous grand dame invites you to experience a whirlwind of style, sport, gastronomy and wellness topped off with world-class service.

DINING

Indulge world-class dining at a plethora of restaurants spread between the main hotel and Chesa Veglia, a nearby 17th-century farmhouse. Fuel up for a day on the slopes at the lavish breakfast buffet and work your way around sophisticated eateries offering everything from Japanese-Peruvian cuisine to classic Swiss fondue and freshly-made pizza.

Afternoon tea, champagne and caviar are accompanied by live piano music in the hotel’s extravagant lobby, known as the ‘living room of St. Moritz’; while King’s Social House is a sophisticated spot for apres-ski fun during the winter months, serving bistro-style fare alongside a bar and nightclub with international DJs. Try the famous house pork pie, served tableside from a trolley with toasted sourdough and homemade piccalilli.

ACTIVITIES

Adventures and excursions

Badrutt’s Palace opens for the winter from December to March, reopening for the summer from late June to early September. During the ski season, explore miles of cross-country trails surrounded by snow-dusted trees, try skijoring, snowkiting and paragliding, and go ice-skating on the frozen lake. The warmer months bring sailing, kite-surfing and bike rides through the forest. Hop in a horse-drawn carriage to the world’s highest luxury shopping street, before returning for a private tour of the hotel’s wine cellar.

Palace Wellness Spa

Reached via a tunnel from the main building, the spa is spread over three floors built into the rock. This luxurious wellness sanctuary has 10 treatment rooms for massages, facials and ayurveda-inspired therapies, alongside a sauna and steam rooms, rain shower, ice fountain and warm stone mensch. A glass-enclosed indoor infinity pool leads out to a heated outdoor pool with mountain views, while the fitness centre offers yoga, Pilates and personal training.
