Helping stargazers view a solar eclipse
With a total solar eclipse crossing North America for the last time until 2044, an events agency tasked us with helping a large group of eclipse chasers to witness the phenomenon. Having arranged plenty of stargazing charters over the years, we jumped at the chance to help get the group into a prime viewing position.
Our Solution
Route: Houston > Carbondale, Illinois
Aircraft: Airbus A320
The client originally requested a round-trip charter from Houston to view the eclipse from the air, however we quickly learned the best visibility would be from the ground.
With this in mind, we suggested arranging an aircraft charter to fly the group to an airport along the eclipse’s path. We sourced an Airbus A320 and shortlisted three destinations; all of which became untenable because of the weather. The team jumped into action to find an alternative destination that day.
The charter ran smoothly, with the group getting a great view of the eclipse before flying back to Houston.
The Finer Details
Industry Contacts: When the Boeing 737 we originally planned to charter became unavailable, we leveraged our operator relationships to find a replacement aircraft.
Rapid Response: Realising the larger A320 was too big to land at one of our chosen airports, our team worked quickly to secure an alternative viewing point.
